Maasai grandfather had his operation done

During one of her visits to Amboseli—where Mila4Africa is building homes, boreholes, schools, and providing food—Mila Anufrieva met two boys along the road. They asked her to visit their village that evening.

On the way back, Mila saw them again, and this time, she followed them to their home. Inside one of the bomas (traditional Maasai homes made of sticks and dung), she noticed an elderly man sitting quietly in a corner—his face marked by a massive tumor.

What happened next?

  • Together with Mila4Africa partner Katya Gordon, we arranged for Grandfather Joseph to be taken to a hospital in Nairobi.

  • He underwent a full medical evaluation—MRI, ultrasound, histology, and more.

  • We covered the cost of an 8-hour surgery.

  • We paid for his recovery and rehabilitation.

  • We provided new clothes and essential medications.

  • And we continue to support Joseph’s family with monthly food supplies.
